Healthtech Wound Care is an organization built for human wellness. Our goal is to provide effective and safe products for patients suffering from advanced and non-healing wounds.

The preservation of limbs and increasing the quality of life for patients are what drive our passion for research and development of human cell and tissue products derived from birthing tissues.

Chief Executive Officer

Jelena Olmstead

Jelena Olmstead is an accomplished healthcare professional with over 20 years of medical sales experience.

Jelena Olmstead is an accomplished healthcare professional with over 20 years of medical sales experience. Ms. Olmstead most recently served as the CEO of World Reach Health, a niche-market healthcare distribution company, and also previously served as the Director of Business Development and Mergers and Acquisitions for NuMotion, which specialized in medical devices for mobility needs. Ms. Olmstead has personally been involved in the sales, importing, exporting and distribution of more than $1.5 billion worth of goods annually over the course of her career at NuMotion. Ms. Olmstead has been instrumental in growing revenues, expanding verticals to new product categories, and identifying and establishing strategic partnerships.

In 2015, prior to joining NuMotion, Ms. Olmstead headed up the M&A divisions of Invacare and Joerns, both global healthcare manufacturers and distributors of DME and medical devices.

Ms. Olmstead started her career in healthcare covering all continuums of care: Acute, LTC, Home Health, Hospice and Wound Care Clinics. Later, Ms. Olmstead worked extensively as an executive with service, operations, and sales throughout her career. Her portfolio of products, service and customers has been extensive and geared towards mobility, seating and positioning, would care, large DME and hospice. Her corporate background has connected her with clients and ventures throughout the U.S. Canada and Europe, as both a direct manufacturer and a distributor, with patient/client outcome always being the central focus.

Senior Vice President

Jim Pesoli

Jim Pesoli is an entrepreneur, accomplished transactional attorney and healthcare services executive with over 15 years of experience.

Jim Pesoli is an entrepreneur, accomplished transactional attorney and healthcare services executive with over 15 years of experience.

Mr. Pesoli has raised over $100 million in venture capital for a myriad of enterprises in recent years, and previously served as a founding partner and COO to World Reach Health. Previously, he was also a founding partner of Sonic Cleaning Services, which provided housekeeping, dietary and laundry management services to a multitude of nursing homes, assisted living facilities and healthcare institutions throughout the midwest. Since having sold Sonic Cleaning, Mr. Pesoli has maintained close relationships with distributorships and manufacturers within the healthcare arena and has shifted focus to bringing a commodities-based mentality to selling medical products and services.

Within Healthtech, Mr. Pesoli has been instrumental in growing revenues, identifying and establishing strategic partnerships and brokering fixed, long-term purchasing agreements with product suppliers and purchasers around the globe.

On legal fronts, Mr. Pesoli has represented a vast array of clients on matters pertaining to mergers and acquisitions, corporate transactions, real estate, commodities, technology, entertainment and finance, and he brings with him an expansive network of vendors and consumers alike.

Chief Science Officer

Douglas Schmid, PhD

You can find Dr. Schmid mainly involved in Research and Development activities working to discover new means of treating and caring for difficult to heal wounds.

Although trained as a physiologist, his scientific experience has mainly been as a cellular biologist working to isolate, culture, and preserve human cells. This experience has led to an understanding of human tissues and the processing of these tissues to retain specific properties that are beneficial to a patient receiving these allografts.

You can find Dr. Schmid mainly involved in Research and Development activities working to discover new means of treating and caring for difficult to heal wounds. He is also involved in overseeing manufacturing of allografts, working with the Quality Assurance team to ensure that products meet regulatory requirements, and answering provider questions about HealthTech’s allografts.

Dr. Schmid believes that providing quality products creates an exceptional experience for every patient that receives our allografts. He is passionate about creating the best possible products for a variety of conditions.

Dr. Schmid has several publications around his previous work with renal and vascular cells. Dr. Schmid has also had the opportunity to speak on numerous occasions about his work with Human Cell and Tissue Products. He has been involved in the successful design and launch of several products and is an inventor on multiple US patents.
Outside of work, he enjoys spending time traveling, hiking, scuba, playing golf, and pickleball, all with his wife, Stephanie.

Senior Vice president of Quality and Regulatory

Kevin Jensen

Kevin has spent the last 18 years in quality and laboratory management roles in the Medical Device, Pharmaceutical, and Tissue products industries.

Most notably of these was his 12 years at Nelson laboratories where he began his career as a quality manager and quickly worked his way up to the Director of Laboratory Operations. In this role he managed 5 testing labs, all cleanroom work, and the media and reagents preparation lab. As the Director of Lab operations, he managed over 120 people with 7 direct reports.

In this role, he was in charge of assuring that all departments were following GMP, GLP, and ISO standards, and that all groups were prepared for FDA inspections, as well as managing the personnel and workloads of the teams. In addition to those duties, he was responsible for working personally with sponsors and clients and helping them develop clean manufacturing processes as well as sterilization strategies for their products.

Later in his career, Kevin worked for Sotera Health after Nelson labs was acquired by Sotera. He was assigned to run and remodel the 3 satellite laboratory facilities in Chicago Illinois, Ontario California, and Mexico City that became part of the Nelson family after the acquisition. This was in addition to continuing to manage labs in Salt Lake City Utah.
In 2004 Kevin earned his degree in Microbiology with an emphasis on Microbial Genetics and Medical Microbiology. In 2006 he became a Registered, Certified Microbiologist (NRCM) under the American Society for Microbiology. His certifications were in the disciplines of Pharmaceuticals, Medical Devices and Cosmetics.

Kevin and his wife have 7 children, 5 grandchildren, and enjoy owning a small farm in western Utah.
